· Masters Programme in Aircraft Maintenance Management in cooperation with City University, London

City University, London has been running M.Sc. Programmes in Air Transport Management and Air Safety Management for nearly ten years and more now. Recently City University has set up a new programme in Aircraft Maintenance Management (M.Sc. AMM). These part-time programmes are for air transport professionals who have some years of experience in the industry and are at the point in their careers where they wish to move into a management role.

The programmes are based on attendance and completion of course-work and examinations for a number of modules and, in the case of the M.Sc. AMM, also completion of a substantial project. Entry can be by first degree or by aircraft engineer licence or similar but, in addition, all applicants must attend and complete one ‘Introductory’ Module satisfactorily before they are accepted onto any programme.

Details of the M.Sc. AMM:
There are three levels of award, depending on the number of modules completed after the introductory one, which does not contribute towards the degree results. There are certain core modules that are required to be taken at every level plus some electives, over which the student has more choice of selection;
Certificate - 4 Modules (comprising 3 core and 1 elective)
Diploma - 8 Modules (comprising 5 core and 3 elective)
M.Sc. AMM - 8 Modules, as for the diploma, plus a project

The core M.Sc. AMM Modules are
  • Airline Maintenance,
  • Airworthiness and Maintenance,
  • Engineering Maintenance Systems,
  • Quality Assurance and
  • Airline Operations.
There are also about 7 electives.

These Modules are currently delivered by City University in London, Dubai and near Cologne on a frequent basis, there being typically a total of 30 held per year.

To be credited towards the M.Sc. a student must complete a set item of coursework following attendance at the Module.
